Neptune Sailing Newsletter - February 2012

NEPTUNE SAILING

Welcome to Neptune Sailing! After a very successful year in 2012, the new team is working hard to take us into the future. The centre and youth management teams are currently preparing for the coming season and a full program has been planned. We will be running our own operations, without the continuing support of SWSA and Suffolk County Council. Several new ideas are being explored to make even greater use of the centre.

Many thanks are due to the large number of people who have given their support in preparing for this exciting new venture.

***NEW WEB SITE ***

www.neptunesailing.org.uk

Our new website, is already up and running. It will have regular updates and newsletters to keep everyone in the picture on developments and events during the year. The site contains pages for our youth groups, courses, contacts, etc, together with information about current developments.

Please visit the site regularly- it's your site- and comments and suggestions will be welcomed. If you would like to write something for the site please do submit it.

WORK PARTIES

Work parties have been well supported this year and our craft are almost ready for the new season. A massive thanks is due to all who have supported this year. We have a large fleet of craft already and the fleet is being expanded as part of the Neptune Sailing development, enabling us to offer additional courses. If you some free time, please support our maintenance sessions to enable us to keep the fleet in top condition.

Next sessions:

1 Saturday 10th March 9am-1.00pm
2 Wednesday 22nd Feb 6 - 9pm (weekly)

To help with planning please let me know if you plan to attend a session.

All welcome, even if you are just dropping in for a coffee!

SOCIAL FUNCTIONS

The social calendar is shaping up well and we will be running a range of social events during the year. Our Regatta, a Family Sail day, both including barbeques, the Laying Up Supper and Awards event are planned and we will be inviting other sailing groups to join us for various fun events. We will be arranging visits to sail at other sites too!

Anyone willing to help organise an event, or just help out generally, please let us know.

LOGO

We are working on a new centre logo, based on the winning entry from our Laying Up Supper competition. The design comprises three dinghies and the centre name and will be used on the centre, boats and lots of other goodies.

FURTHER HELP NEEDED

The development of Neptune Sailing is gathering pace and we need to consider further opportunities in developing the site and our public face.

We are seeking ideas, opinions and advice regarding some site issues from anyone with experience in groundwork and construction.

Marketing the new venture will be very important to our future development, so we are particularly keen to hear from anyone with experience in this area.

If you have any of these skills, or know anyone who has, and would be prepared to give us some occasional help, please let me know.

FINALLY

Thanks for all your support to date, and in the future. We are all excited and confident about the future. We are sure you will want to give your support.
